Some legacy tales for you!
In 1981 a wealthy Austrian
promised his relatives that he would be "thinking of
them" when making his will. To his nephew he left "thoughts"
about the £78,000 he might have left him but didn't.
In 1953 a Munich man persecuted by family
members all his life for being misely - died suddenly. Family
members were curious as to why the reading of the will was
to take place in an upstairs room of the man's home. They
soon knew why as "Munich Man" had sawn through the
joists!
In 1980, a man from Melbourne, Australia,
bequeathed the sale proceeds of his expensive motor car to
his former girlfriend. His wife sold the car for £5!
A Canadian disapproved of his nephew's lazy
lifestyle. He was neatly punished in his Uncle's 1953 will.
Said playboy nephew was left £30,000 - on one condition.
The will stipulated that the entire bequest be spent on firewood
- then the nephew had to sell the wood.
One particular charitable bequest calls for
the baking of a plum pudding, to weigh in excess of 300 pounds,
for needy families of Paignton, Devon. This bequest, however,
only comes into effect once every 50 years.
