Eating disorders information

The web site has been developed by the Eating Disorders Unit. The aim of this web site is to ensure that knowledge about eating disorders from research and clinical centres is available to all those with an interest in eating disorders, whether they have personal experience of an eating disorder, are a friend or relative of someone who does or are a health professional.

If you would like to help further the understanding of eating disorders please join our volunteers database or look at our list of active studies. We are especially keen on finding sets of twins.

The site is structured into 4 main sections:

Information for service users

'Service user' is a term used to describe someone who makes use of health services, in this case for help with an eating disorder. This part of the web site contains information about eating disorders, treatment, recovery and self-care.

Information for carers, friends and family

This section is aimed at the carers, friends and family of people with experience of an eating disorder. It provides knowledge and skills that will help carers support someone with an eating disorder.

Information for health professionals and service providers

This has contributions from Professor Janet Treasure which are aimed at giving health professionals from a variety of disciplines tools to enable them to work effectively with people with eating disorders.

Our research findings

This has contributions from of the research workers from the IOP and GKT sites and also from our collaborating centres.
