Join the Carers Volunteer Database
The Volunteer Database
The database is a confidential list of people who have
had experience of caring for someone with eating disorders and are interested
in taking part in research. If you join the database we will write to
you from time to time, inviting you to take part in our work. We also
produce a newsletter twice a year for our volunteers and other interested
people, with news about the research team and past, present and future
projects.
You are of course not obliged
to take part in any study, and would be free to withdraw from the list
at any time without needing to give a reason.
How the information you provide is used
The database is kept on a drive which can only be accessed
by authorised members of the unit and only on certain approved computers
in
the department. This is kept separately from the volunteers (sufferers)
database, accessed by password, so as to not reveal information that
links
carers and sufferers.
No information is ever relayed between carers and
sufferers, even when both a carer and a sufferer in the same family
have joined our databases. The questionnaires themselves are kept in
a locked cabinet and the keys are never left in the office.
How to join the database
To join the database we ask you to complete a short questionnaire
about yourself and the person that you care for / live with.
