Thinking styles in eating disorders

We are looking for:

  • Volunteers with Bulimia Nervosa,
  • Volunteers who are recovered from Anorexia or Bulimia Nervosa,
  • Healthy volunteers (who have never had an eating disorder or any eating problem)

This project involves:

  • Completing a set of online questionnaires
  • Some participants will be asked to attend a testing session at Guy's Hospital in London

What the project is investigating

We hope this project will improve our understanding of factors that may cause an eating disorder or may make it stick once it arrives and our idea is that people with eating disorders have strengths in a particular form of thinking which also could be related to some personality traits.

Caring for Eating Disorders - Self directed approaches

Families can play an important role supporting an individual with an eating disorder. We have been working with carers of people with eating disorders to understand what information and help is needed. We have developed a range of self directed approaches which help carer’s optimise their strategies and maximise the possibility of a good outcome.

This study explores the use of training and information for the carers of people with eating disorders.

Eating Disorders and Motherhood

We are looking for mothers and daughters with experience of eating disorders (presently or in the past) to take part in a study. The study will investigate how the care available to families in which a mother and daughter both have an eating disorder can be improved. The study will also investigate how the development of an eating disorder in the daughters of women with the condition can be prevented. More information about this study

Do Eating Disorders Run In Your Family???

Although eating disorders are not 'genetic' illnesses, certain genes may make it more likely that some people suffer from them, for example by making people predisposed to obesity. We are particularly interested in families where more than one person has had an eating disorder.
