CYCLE MADAGASCAR - 12 to 24th September 2007

Such was the enormous success of Cycle Madagascar 2005 that we have taken the unprecedented step of running the same itinerary again in September 2007. We have never re-run an itinerary before, but Madagascar is really such a very special place we thought it a terrible waste for RIED not to benefit again from all the hard work that was put into determining this trailblazing and extra ordinary route.

Madagascar is one of the most enchanting and unusual places on earth and this cycle challenge will give you the opportunity to discover its wildlife and the Malagasy at their most authentic. You will cycle for approximately 600 km through a complete diversity of landscape and terrain from paddy fields to rain forests, palm plantations to spectacular coast, and at the end of the challenge you will find a touch of paradise on Ile Ste Marie one of the most idyllic tropical islands and untouched destinations in the world.

Below you can read the excerpts from our diary which was written en route last year from which we hope you will get the feel of what this challenge is all about. We do hope that you will join us in September 2007 for what will be a chance of a life time, and a life changing experience. For your registration form and information pack, please call Nina Jackson on 020 8748 5669, or email: ried.madagascar@bikerider.com.

By cycling with us you will be helping us on our way to meeting our -3m target which is so vital to achieve if we are to keep the current and very complex research programme alive. As a result of its tremendous fundraising efforts RIED is responsible for its own Research Fellows who are working on all avenues of research relating to the malfunction of the brain with Anorexia Nervosa, and also the role of those who care for those who are suffering from this ghastly and severally life threatening illness. It is one of todays most chronic conditions in adolescence and has the highest mortality of any psychiatric condition.
