Description

The Lancet Series on Global Mental Health is a major new series of articles documenting key issues in global mental health: the interface of mental health with other public health priorities: the scarcity, inequity and inefficiency of global mental health resources; the evidence for the treatment and prevention of mental disorders in low and middle income countries; the performance of individual nations on a range of mental health indicators; and the barriers to improving mental health services. The Series ends with a stirring Call for Action to scale up a basic, evidence based, package of services for mental disorders, strengthen the monitoring of core mental health indicators, and invest in priority research on mental disorders.

The Launch of the Lancet Series on Global Mental Health is co-hosted by the King’s College London (Institute of Psychiatry), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and The Lancet with support from the World Health Organization.

The full day program has three parts. The first part will involve a press release and formal launch event; the second part will involve a series of presentations by authors of the final articles; and the third part will involve responses from key stakeholders in global mental health. The latter section will involve panel discussions and presentations from leaders of donor agencies, multilateral agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders in the format of a panel discussion. The session will end with an open forum for discussion with the audience and a final closing lecture.
