Description

Key features include:

· An update of research on violence risk assessment .

· Review of case rating skills using the HCR-20 and START (Short-Term Assessment of Risk and Treatability).

· Inter-disciplinary training and implementation.

· Pending revision of the HCR-20 “HCR- Version 3”.

· Further developments of the START.

· Understanding and developing the role of research and consultation networks in risk assessment and management.

Target Group:

· Experienced practitioners (e.g. nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers) who work in civil mental health, forensic psychiatric and criminal justice services and who have experience in conducting individual assessments.

· Practitioners who have a practical understanding of the HCR-20 and related guides through actual clinical use or attendance at a relevant workshop.

· Practitioners who are expected to contribute to the implementation of structured risk assessment schemes.
