activities and interests
In 2006-2007 I studied for an MSc in Public Health (Health Services Research) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. This included courses in Statistical Methods in Epidemiology, Advanced Statistical Methods in Epidemiology and Qualitative Methods.
From 2007-2010 I studied for a PhD in Health Services Research at the Institute of Psychiatry under the supervision of Prof Tony David and Prof Paul Fearon. My research focused on the interlinked questions of the determinants of length of stay on psychiatric wards and homelessness and residential mobility among users of psychiatric services. As well as quantitative studies based on data from the UK700 study and from the BRC Case Register (CRIS), I trained in Conversation Analysis and used these methods in a study of how doctors and nurses jointly produce "accounts" of service users in psychiatric ward rounds.
Since 2010, I have been supported in part by the NIHR Specialist Biomedical Research Centre for Mental Health. In April 2012, I moved to the Health Service and Population Research Department, where I am in the Section of Community Mental Health. I am project coordinator for the MAPLE study, which is an evaluation of SLaM’s introduction of the MAPCAG to deliver services for common mental disorder. I am also working on a number of other projects using the SQL version of the BRC Case Register.
I work part-time for South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust as a Consultant Psychiatrist with the Croydon Home Treatment Team.
