biography
I am a qualified and registered social worker with experience of working with adults with mental health problems. activities and interests
Research interests
My main interest is in developing and evaluating social interventions for people with mental health problems. I am currently leading a project funded by the NIHR School for Social Care Research to develop a social capital intervention for people with psychosis. The Connecting People study is using ethnographic methods to identify good practice in social capital enhancement activities and, through a critical appreciation of the context of this practice, develop a new intervention that can be readily applied across a range of health and social care settings. This study will be completed in August 2012.
I am also interesting in evaluating learning and teaching at the Institute of Psychiatry and within the College. I am currently leading a randomised controlled trial of multi-disciplinary online academic literacy learning materials for postgraduate students. This is due to be completed in September 2012. A project examining reasons for non-response to the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) will begin in May 2011.
