Neural Stem Cells
Prof. Price got his first degree with the Open University, then a PhD in Neurobiology from University College, London. Following post-doctoral training at MIT, he ran a research group at the National Institute for Medical Research, Mill Hill for eight years. He was then Director of Molecular Neuroscience at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, until taking up his present position of Professor Developmental Neurobiology at the Institute in 1998. He became Director of the newly-former Centre for the Cellular Basis of Behaviour in 2006.
Prof. Price has worked on neural stem cells in various guises for about twenty years, and has more recently being pursuing an interest in the development of psychiatric disorders. In addition to his Institute post, he is currently Consultant and Director of Cell Biology for ReNeuron Ltd., a UK Biotech company developing stem cells for therapeutic and drug discovery applications.
