International Mental Health

IMH is a cross-departmental centre for investigators from the IoP and collaborating overseas institutions, actively researching in the area of international mental health.

Key aims of IMH at IoP:

  • To promote comparative research with a cross-national perspective, involving:
    • Collaborative work with developing and restructuring countries, also to include comparisons with and between developed country settings.
    • Studies of the mental health of ethnic minorities and migrants in developed countries.
  • To build and extend collaborations in teaching, training and research with our overseas partners.
  • To contribute to the evidence base for public mental health policy.
  • To provide a focus for the development, efficient conduct and dissemination of our international research programmes.
  • To develop agreed research priorities, valid research methodologies and ethical frameworks for mental health research in the developing world.
